Park Walker (Island, Sentosa) - Heritage Walk @Military Barracks Route (2024 1214)
Getting There:
Taking the Sentosa Express from VivoCity and alight at Imbiah Station, exit and walk toward Madame Tussauds Singapore
Former Military Hospital (Present: Madame Tussauds Singapore)
Completed in the 1890s for the British Troops. During the Japanese Occupation (1942 - 1945), the hospital was used as barracks by the Japanese troops instead.
Former Recreation Ground and Barracks (Present: Oasia Resort Sentosa)
The island housed military personnel in 1878 and 1967, Blakang Mati served as a defensive outpost of the British Empire.
Take the stairs to the left of the hotel building and follow the sheltered walkway walk toward The Village Hotel, you’ll be led to the Mess Hall & Barracks Lawn, a former parade ground.
Barracks at Former Parade Ground (Present: The Barracks Hotel )
Exit the Barracks Lawn via Gunner Lane and make a right turn at Artillery Avenue
Royal Engineers’ Yard
Former Power Station
Continue walking along Artillery Avenue until you reach the trail marker for the former Officers’ Mess and quarters.
