The three Broad-leafed Mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla) Heritage Trees could have been planted in the 1930s, around the time of the development of the Royal Air Force’s Seletar station, and so they are estimated to be around 80 to 90 years old. A native of tropical Central and South America, ranging from Mexico to Brazil, this tree was introduced to Singapore in 1876 from Honduras.

Singapore Youth Flying Club - The Singapore Youth Flying Club (SYFC) was established in December 1971 as the Junior Flying Club by the then newly-formed Singapore Armed Forces. Its mission is to promote aviation among youths and inculcate in them a strong passion for flying.

Heritage Tree at Singapore Youth Flying Club Aero Model Flying Area - These trees were planted during the development of Seletar West Camp in the 1930s to accommodate the British squadrons of torpedo bombers and other land-based aircraft then. Many servicemen have passed beneath their branches, which now shade the passageway to the Singapore Youth Flying Club premises. This Heritage Tree had a girth of 4.8m when measured in Year 2005.
